Caitlin’s wedding videography (old) setup includes a JVC High Definition videocamera, Sennheiser microphone, LightWave windscreen, Manfrotto MDeeVee tripod and head, and Shure E3C earbuds for monitoring.

If you want to see her current setup, get a load of this picture.

Note: Flickr’s resizing engine is still desaturating.

Wedding in the backyard
california wedding videography

Nice backyard! (No, it’s not mine.)

Since I was in the ceremony (you can see me in the shade next to the groom) and Caitlin was doing the videography (you can see her at the bottom of the frame), I gave instructions on how to pass the camera to my cousin Christina for taking photographs from the second floor (which I staked out the day before as having an excellent view). The problem was, I forgot to tell Caitlin to remove it from the tripod first!

Note: There is some CA when you zoom in all the way, I’ll fix that later.

( Nikon D70 ) ƒ6.3, 1/160sec, iso 200, 12mm, polarizer + 81A
DxO (blur, distortion, ca, vignette, lighting, denoise), RAW (exposure)

where can I find cheap photography and maybe Videography in Dallas Fortworth Texas?

Question by The girl next door: where can I find cheap photography and maybe Videography in Dallas Fortworth Texas?
for a wedding reception

Answer by Ashley
First of all, I will tell you this much…You get what you pay for, so make sure that someone you hire, no matter how expensive or how inexpensive they are, knows what they are doing. Ask them if they own their own Digital SLR camera and make sure that they know how to use Photoshop. (Preferably a later version of Photoshop like CS2 or CS3) I am a Photography student that is slowly earning my Photographic Imaging degree from Richland College. I haven’t ever done any weddings or any receptions before but I have been to quite a few to look on and observe how the other Photographers or Makeup Artists do their job and I have not only learned the appropriate ways to capture photographs at weddings and prior to weddings (the bride and groom’s solo shots) but I have gotten a lot of tips from friends of mine that have been in the industry for years. Depending on when the wedding reception is and where it is going to be held, I might be able to help you out along with my friend Pam who has been doing Photography as an art for a long time. She takes great photos and I do as well, we both have professional SLR Nikon cameras and I pride myself at being a whiz with Photoshop CS3 which I have owned for quite some time now and learned very well…So, we could send you some work and you can see what you think and then go from there OR I might be able to ask around to some other friends of mine that are wonderful Photographers as well…Just let me know and MAKE SURE YOU SEE SOME SAMPLES OF THEIR ORIGINAL WORK BEFORE YOU HIRE ANYONE! :) lol Hope that helped some, my name is Ashley. Have a great one!

Videotaping and editing weddings – while it represents a substantial percentage of our total production efforts, is not the only thing we do. We also videotape seminars, conventions, training programs, marketing videos, dance recitals, memorials and theatrical productions, just to name a few. And while most of our customers are private individuals, we also produce videos for small businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, government agencies, churches and Fortune 500 companies.

The important work of capturing a bride and groom’s most important day is not something we take lightly. We’ve been videotaping weddings since 1982 and take great pride in all of the positive testimonials we continue to receive on a regular basis. However, the business of being a wedding videographer – especially if you have a strong desire for excellence – has its challenges. And during a recession those challenges are multiplied. As a wedding videographer I am compelled to provide a high quality product, superior customer service, affordable prices and work diligently to produce a meaningful profit.

A quote we often use in marketing our wedding video business is: “Your Wedding Never Ends When You Capture It On Video.” And there’s a great deal of truth in that statement. Unlike photos, video is live action and sound. Much like a Hollywood movie, a professionally-produced wedding video can capture the events of your special day from beginning to end.

Depending on your vision and budget, the cameras can be there from the moment you awake in the morning, capturing each key moment throughout the day, and lasting until your final farewell that evening. In addition to videotaping the wedding and reception, many couples include several other components in their final DVD; a birth-to-engagement photo montage, love story (mini-documentary on how they met, etc), parent interviews, wedding-guest interviews, and rehearsal dinner coverage.

Words cannot describe the power and influence of your wedding video. The day can go by so fast that it is often just a blur in your memory. Through video, you, your friends, family, and more-importantly, your children and future generations can experience the excitement and joy of your most important day.

We are not suggesting that Video be used to replace photos. But current trends indicate that more couples are beginning to recognize its importance and many view video as a definite necessity in their list of priorities when planning the wedding day. I’ve heard from dozens of married couples who, when they learn that I’m a wedding videographer, declare regret at not including video in their wedding plans. Just think of how special it would be to view a video of your parents’ and/or grand parents’ wedding day. And with the power, speed, influence and affordability of email, free web sites, CDs and DVDs, couples can easily share the excitement and joy of their special day with friends and relatives who were unable to attend the wedding-day festivities.

If nothing else, couples should invest in a professionally-produced video of their wedding ceremony. The video is a living record – an historical account of your most important and happy day. It is not an expense – its an investment in history – in essence – a gift that keeps on giving, for generations to come.

American Video Productions has been producing wedding videos since 1982. Discover why couples continue to trust us to chronicle their special day by visiting our web site at: http://www.americanvideoproductions.net/ – or call us at 888-433-6554.
